Awakeneers EPK

Timeless contemporary folk music.
"One of the most talented and professional groups of musicians I’ve ever worked with - very personable and reliable ... You can see that the audience is really engaged" Karen SeaboyerBest Roots & Traditional Album JUNO juror, Campbell River Arts Council
"We were enchanted, lifted, blown away and thoroughly entertained by the music you shared with us." Sue AverillArtistic Director, Nanaimo Folk ConnectionNanaimo BC

Currently based in Campbell River BC, the Awakeneers are a nomadic tribe of multi-instrumentalist songwriters most of whom are siblings. The Awakeneers offer a genre-bending blend of acoustic positivity that orbits elliptically around the idea of folk music.

Segueing from a foot-stomping fiddle tune to a hip-hop guide to mindfulness, or a meditative love song to Mother Earth, their music centres around honest vocals with rich harmonies and diverse acoustic instrumentation. Awakeneers songwriting shines a light on life's big questions, celebrating the goodness of humanity and the miracle of life on earth.

The band was formed in 2020, but all members of the Awakeneers have played together, under various band names, for more than a decade. Collectively they have written more than 400 songs and have performed together across the USA, Canada and Europe playing for audiences ranging in size from 7 to 7,000 at festivals, conferences, concert halls, and folk clubs.

As an independent, self-managed band based on Vancouver Island, they have built a strong hometown following with a unique approach to music business that has included numerous local radio and TV performances, touring on a wooden sailboat, and giving away their music for free on their custom-built Awakeneers music streaming app.

THE AWAKENEERS PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE

  1. Timely communication and attention to all booking and logistical details
  2. Commitment to treating all crew members with respect and compassion
  3. Responsibility to timelines and schedules

Yes, we are a large group, but no, that doesn't mean that we're hectic, disorganized, and hard to work with. On the contrary, it means we know how important it is to respect the details. Over the course of hundreds of shows, and thousands of miles we've learned how important it is to be reliable and easy to work with, from the perspective of the presenter. We like to have lots of time for setup and soundcheck but when necessary, we can confidently work with very tight schedules. We take special delight in keeping a flawless record on set-length and stage strike; with our fastest full-concert strike time clocking in at under four minutes, when needed.
